Jerzy Duda-Gracz
JERZY DUDA-GRACZ (b. 1941- d. 2004)
Painter and a graphic artist, studied at a branch of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice (branch of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow). The artist created genre scenes, in which there are visible influences of surrealism and expressionism. By presenting various human faults and defects: stupidity, mindlessness, laziness – he creates a certain caricature of humanity. His compositions are characterized by a warm and harmonic palette. Duda-Gracz reaches out for the old patterns, interpreting famous works and patterns in his own way. Yet the core of his art are canvas depictions of his perceptions of Polish reality, Polish customs, morality which are always presented in a very suggestive manner.
