GABRIELA KURYLEWICZ
Philosopher, doctor of humanities, poet, translator, academic lecturer, composer, also involved in painting. Graduate of the University of Warsaw and the University of London. She defended her doctorate in philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw in 2003. In 2001, she founded the Forma – Teatr Foundation, Institute of Art and Philosophical Research. Since 2011, she has been a lecturer at the University of Warsaw. In 2013–2016, she led her own seminar under the patronage of the Vice-Rector and a conversation class at the Department of Aesthetics at the Institute of Philosophy. In 2013, she was a lecturer at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University. In 2016, she founded the Philosophy of Music Workshop (together with M. Szyszkowska and J. Michalik) at the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw. She continues her philosophical seminar at the Kurylewicz Artistic Piwnica. She collaborates with “Przegląd Filozoficzno-Literacki” and “Jazz Press”. She is a member of ZAiKS (Section of Authors of Literary Works), the Association of Polish Writers (in the Main Board in 2011–2014, in the Board of the Warsaw Branch since 2017), STOART and SIEPM, ISNS, PTE. Since 2007 she has run the Kurylewicz Artistic Piwnica – Studio of Music, Poetry and Philosophy in Warsaw and Wierzchucin. She is the originator and organizer of the music and poetry festival “Dni Muzyki Andrzeja Kurylewicza”. As a painter, she founded the Gabriela Kurylewicz Portrait Company and writes columns in "Jazz Press", where she publishes her paintings.
