Józef Panfil

JÓZEF PANFIL (born in 1958)
He graduated from PWSSP in 1984. In 1987 he received a grant from the Department of Culture and Arts. He won several prizes, e.g. at Leon Wyczółkowski National Contest, ‘Bielska Jesień’ - XXIVth National Exhibition, XIVth J. Spychalski National Contest and Small Forms Biennale.

"Józef  Panfil is a painter endowed with a great charisma. He presents a consciously chosen, processed fragments of landscapes, or portraits of peasants. His paintings - regardless of the size of the canvas-  always strike us with their monumentality. Maybe, he is the last Don Quixote who without any pride, or bombast, but with a great consequence of the Romantics and awareness of his mission tries to save the fading world from the oblivion through his art.”
