Łukasz Krupski, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, is one of the most promising contemporary sculptors on the Polish art scene. His oeuvre, rooted in the tradition of sacred sculpture, draws from biblical narratives and the human spiritual condition, blending them with modern metalworking techniques. From his early works, the artist explored themes of materiality, the body, and transcendence; gestures and postures served as carriers of emotion in his pieces, evolving into mature, meditative realizations.

The grand open-air exhibition on Plac Trzech Krzyży surrounding St. Alexander's Church in Warsaw marked a key moment in the artist's career, while his Stations of the Cross for Warsaw's Archcathedral solidified his position as an artist engaging in a contemporary dialogue with the canon of sacred art.

Song of Songs (2016) is an impressive aluminum sculpture standing 75 cm tall. It embodies Krupski's fascination with the gesture of prayer. The central motif of intertwined hands—tense, as if in ecstatic rapture or supplication—directly references the biblical Song of Songs (Song 4:9-11), where human love intertwines with the divine in metaphors of the garden and the kiss. The matte, cool austerity of the aluminum contrasts with the organic interlacing of fingers, evoking the ephemerality of human piety against eternity. The hands are not idealized like Michelangelo's in The Creation of Adam, but raw, bearing visible traces of the sculptor's chisel—Krupski thereby emphasizes the corporeality of prayer, its intimacy, and tension.

The sculpture can be read as a contemporary icon of transcendent love: the entwined hands symbolize the union of the soul with divinity, yet also the fragility of human bonds in a secularized world.
