Acrylic painting "Angry Man" – Victor Davies
"Angry Man" is an emotionally pulsating, ironic composition in which Victor Davies once again proves his mastery in handling the aesthetics of rebellion and street expression. A strong background for the entire depiction is the textured, blood-red paint, within which the artist has carved out a bright, bluish-white space. It is exactly within this space that a grotesque silhouette, outlined with raw lines, has been placed. The figure, with its bright pink face, resembles primitivist masks while simultaneously taking on an almost robotic, sectioned character.
The artwork is incredibly dense with meaning and social references, introduced onto the canvas through intriguing, handwritten notes. On the right side, the artist has incorporated a subversive "shopping list" (including eggs, vegetables, tomatoes), juxtaposed with the ironic question "CHAMPAGNE ANYONE? ANYONE?" thrown by the painting's protagonist holding a glass.
The titular "ANGRY MAN", written in a thick, black font on the left side, along with slogans like "BRAINWASHED" or the reflection on intolerance ("NO MILK GLUTEN INTOLERANCE..."), create a multi-layered story about frustration, consumerism, and the chaos of the modern world.
The canvas, measuring 70 by 100 cm, is a decoration with character, created for interiors with an avant-garde, urban vibe. This piece will look phenomenal in the open spaces of industrial apartments or unconventional offices.
